Conor McGregor Sends a “Point Blank” Message to Dana White Over Imminent News on Comeback
Some think Conor McGregor doesn’t have the motivation to fight anymore. The Dubliner, after all, is the wealthiest mixed martial artist of all time and remains the biggest-ever star in the sport. However, his recent actions have changed this narrative. The former two-division champ has been begging UFC boss Dana White for a fight in 2024 since pulling out of his scheduled UFC 303 clash against Michael Chandler a few weeks from the June 29 clash. And while Dana White had flatly refused the Irishman will fight this year, it seems there had finally been a breakthrough, as ‘Mac’ revealed on social media.
After a series of cryptic social media posts, where Conor McGregor indirectly made his displeasure with the UFC known, the Irishman finally met with Dana White. And it seems the former champion is closer to getting a fight date. “We got sh** done! Point Blank! @danawhite,” McGregor wrote on Instagram Stories as he reposted a picture of him with Dana White.
While it is not known what the duo discussed in the meeting, based on the aforementioned caption and the recent happenings, it seems clear it had to do with ‘Mac’s much-awaited comeback after three years of inactivity. The Irishman, of course, has been out for the past three years, recovering from a horrific snapped leg he suffered in his UFC 264 clash against Dustin Poirier in 2021.
With the clock on the 36-year-old’s career running out rapidly, the Dubliner is eager to get back in the ring and remind people why he is the biggest PPV seller in the sport even after the recent dip in his form. While some fans have jumped to the conclusion that this means the two most powerful men in MMA have ironed out all the kinks and ‘Mac’ will indeed fight in December, that would be too far a leap to make.

Until either party reveals what was talked about and decided in the meeting, nothing can be said for certain about when the Irishman will return. Not to mention UFC analyst and insider Chael Sonnen, for example, has said that the UFC may be targeting a possible January 2025 date for McGregor-Chandler. Meanwhile, the former double champion might have to find a new opponent as well, considering Chandler’s recent warnings.
Michael Chandler warns Conor McGregor he’s ready to ‘move on’
Michael Chandler has not fought for the past two years. Or as some fans would put it, he has wasted two years of his life and left multiple potential seven-figure purses on the table by not fighting over this time. Not to mention the 38-year-old ‘Iron’, too, is approaching the end of his pro-fighting days.
Despite all of this, the American has waited faithfully for ‘Mac’. The former Bellator champ even turned down a chance to fight Islam Makhachev for the coveted UFC 155-pound gold, which was reportedly offered to him after UFC 303 ended disastrously. But it is entirely understandable why the American has done so. After all, a fight with ‘Mac’, the biggest ever star and PPV seller the sport has ever seen, would easily be the biggest payday of ‘Iron’s career.
Not to mention the name recognition and increase in star-power he would get fighting ‘Mac’. But, with the persistent uncertainty around a fight date, even Chandler is getting impatient. The former Bellator champ has even warned the Irishman that he is ready to move on from fighting him if there isn’t a fight date soon, seemingly putting the onus on McGregor to get it done.
“I’m not gonna ever play the victim… with all due respect, I’m ready to put you behind me. I’m ready to put you flat on your back in the middle of an octagon… and I can walk out of that octagon and never have to think about you again,” Chandler said recently. If he did ‘move on’ from fighting McGregor, that would be a veritable disaster. Not only would Chandler have wasted two years of his valuable fighting career for nothing, and the biggest purse of his career, he would become a laughing stock for fans and fellow fighters alike.
