The Visitor List: LSU hosting 5-stars, Top 100 recruits and more
The LSU football staff is set to host multiple 5-stars, Top 100 prospects and more this weekend as official visits begin in Baton Rouge.
The list includes some longtime targets at wide receiver and on the offensive line, while the newly-hired defensive staff is set to bring in key targets on the defensive line and in the defensive backfield – two key areas the staff wants addressed through the 2025 class.
With 11 commitments and the No. 2 recruiting class on the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, this weekend could prove huge for LSU’s staff when it comes to taking the lead – or strengthening the lead – with some of America’s best recruits.
As the week begins, here’s a look at the 12 prospects who are expected to make LSU official visits this weekend, which are set to begin on May 31 and wrap up on June 2.
LSU hosting five 5-star Targets at once
WR Kaliq Lockett … There’s been buzz around Texas making a run at the No. 2 wide receiver in America, but this past week, On3’s Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong split their “way too early predictions” on Lockett. Simmons went with LSU, while Wiltfong leaned towards Texas A&M. That said, both circled the Tigers as a program firmly in the race for the Lone Star State 5-star wide receiver. Lockett will make official visits to LSU and Texas A&M in the next two weeks, followed by trips to Texas and Florida State.
WR Jamie Ffrench … The one-time Alabama commitment has circled multiple teams as frontrunners in his recruitment, and trips to Baton Rouge this offseason have pushed LSU into the top group. With 5-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore opening his recruitment back up, the Tigers will certainly continue to push hard to get Ffrench on board. On3’s Steve Wiltfong circled Texas as the team to beat, but added “I could be changing my mind to LSU later on … the Longhorns are right there at the top, but the Tigers are also gaining steam in Jaime Ffrench’s recruitment.” Ohio State may be fading here, while Miami, Tennessee and the Longhorns are teams to watch.
CB DJ Pickett … When asked about where things stood with Pickett, both On3’s Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong both felt LSU was the team to beat entering official visits in June. LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond has made Pickett a major priority, and the No. 1 cornerback has already made three trips to Baton Rouge since Raymond was hired in January. Now, LSU will kick off his list of June official visits with the hope of making a big splash out of the gates.
CB Dorian Brew … Another defensive back, another 5-star on the list of expected visitors for Corey Raymond. Brew, whose father Derrick Brew ran track at LSU, is someone Raymond has been high on since returning to the staff in Baton Rouge. Brew, whose mother ran track at Ohio State, was considered an early lean to the Buckeyes, but it’s been Southern Cal that’s circled as the team trending recently. This week’s visit at LSU, which is strategically set to happen at the same time as Pickett, will be Raymond’s chance to pitch the No. 1 and No. 4 cornerback prospects as an impact pairing in Baton Rouge.
OL Soloman Thomas … LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis had another banner recruiting cycle in 2024, and he’s now stacked up three commitments for the 2025 cycle – including a pair of Top 100 prospects in Tyler Miller and Devin Harper. Thomas has been committed to Florida State since December, but he’s made a round of unofficial visits this spring, which included a trip to LSU. Now, he’s set to be back on campus with family. It might be a tough flip, but we’ve seen Davis pull a rabbit out of his hat many times before when it comes to recruiting elite offensive linemen. Thomas is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the top interior offensive lineman in the country.
Eight Top 150 Recruits are headed to Baton Rouge
TE DaSaahn Brame … First-year LSU tight ends coach Slade Nagle has a commitment from a four-star legacy recruit in Sulphur’s JD LaFleur. Now, he’s had his sights set on adding a second tight end to the 2025 class. Oregon is the heavy favorite on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Brame, but LSU will take a swing at the Top 100 prospect this weekend. Brame, a Kansas native, is the No. 3 tight end on the On3 Industry Rankings.
OL Micah Debose … Debose backed off his Georgia commitment in January, and while many figured Auburn was the team to beat, it was LSU as the team that trended over the next two months. Debose nearly popped for the Tigers, sources tell The Bengal Tiger staff. Instead, he chose to make a wave of unofficial visits before making official visits in June. Davis and LSU get Debose on campus first, and the goal will likely be landing a commitment before he makes the rest of his visits. At this stage, Alabama might be the biggest competition for the Mobile (Ala.) four-star prospect.
EDGE Damien Shanklin … LSU hasn’t dipped into the Midwest often, but first-year defensive ends coach Kevin Peoples is using his time spent on Missouri’s staff to dive deeper into his prior relationship with Shanklin, a Top 150 prospect who made his way to Baton Rouge for LSU’s annual Spring Game in April. One month later, the four-star edge rusher is set to be back on campus for his LSU official visit. Notre Dame has the On3 RPM lead, but sources say the Tigers have a real shot at making a splash with the visit this weekend.
Bo Davis brings in three of his top targets for the 2025 class
DL Brandon Brown … Brown committed to Davis at Texas without visiting with anyone else on the staff in Austin. The relationship is strong here, and Brown has already made one visit to LSU over the past month. He’s set to arrive this weekend for his official visit with trips to Tennessee, Texas and USC on deck as well. It’s time to put Brown on potential “Flip Watch” as he navigates visits while being committed to the Longhorns.
DL Zion Williams … Many feel this will be an LSU-Texas battle for the four-star prospect out of Lufkin, which means another prospect with ties to Bo Davis from his prior coaching stop and current coaching role. TCU has already hosted him for an official visit, but this weekend, LSU will bring Williams in with the hopes of popping the Lone Star State native as the first defensive line commitment in the class.
DL Dilan Battle … The Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview standout is one of three Lone Star State defensive linemen visiting LSU this weekend, meaning it’s going to be a huge chance for Bo Davis to build out his 2025 class. Battle has remained mum on leaders, but LSU is battling the likes of Cal, TCU, SMU and Southern Cal.
Jake Olsen set to host first of a number of safeties in June
S Omarion Robinson … Robinson has been flying under the radar as one of LSU’s safety targets. Even with Oklahoma holding a big lead on the On3 RPM, Olsen and the Tigers have quietly put themselves in a good spot as official visits begin. “They check all my boxes,” he told The Bengal Tiger staff following a visit to LSU this spring, citing the development of defensive backs as key to LSU’s pitch. Beyond Oklahoma, competition for LSU includes in-state Arkansas as well as Colorado, Georgia, Oregon and Texas A&M. Robinson is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in Arkansas for the 2025 class.
