Breaking down the five highest-rated recruitments on Michigan State’s June official visitor list
As Michigan State prepares for a busy June full of official visits, SpartanMag will provide a series of articles to help familiarize fans with Spartan targets who make their way to campus. SpartanMag has already confirmed nearly 40 visitors for the month of June. You can find the full list here.
Michigan State currently holds five 2025 high school commitments. The remainder of the class will likely feature plenty of recruits on SpartanMag’s official visitor list, as a majority of them will want to make their decisions this summer, before their senior seasons begin.
In this article, we will take a look at the five highest-rated prospects on SpartanMag’s official visitor list. We will also discuss a pair of Michigan State targets that On3 has ranked higher than the industry average.
1. Four-star S Tariq Hayer, Upper Marlboro (Md.) St. John’s
Michigan State will welcome back four-star safety Tariq Hayer for an official visit over the weekend of June 14. The 6-foot, 180-pound Hayer took an unofficial spring practice visit to East Lansing in April. He also visited Alabama, Auburn and Rutgers this spring.
Hayer told On3 national writer Chad Simmons that he tentatively plans to commit on July 4. He will take official visits to Cincinnati on May 31, Rutgers on June 7, Michigan State on June 14 and Maryland on June 21.
“The official visits will decide where I go,” Hayer told Simmons. “I really want to feel the vibe and see which place I see myself the most comfortable at.”
A strong official visit could go a long way for Michigan State in this winnable recruitment. Should he commit to the Spartans, Hayer would become the highest-ranted commit and the first defensive back in the class.
Hayer is the No. 158 recruit in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 16 safety and the No. 2 recruit from Washington D.C. in his class.
2. Four-star RB Jabree Wallace-Coleman, Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute
Four-star running back Jabree Wallace-Coleman was a recent addition to the SpartanMag official visitor list. On3’s Ryan Snyder reported that Wallace-Coleman will be in East Lansing over the weekend of June 14. Wallace-Coleman will also take official visits to North Carolina on June 11 and Penn State on June 21.
Wallace-Coleman (5-11, 202) was previously committed to Georgia. Last season, he rushed for 1,500 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also helped lead Imhotep to a PIAA 5A state championship.
Wallace-Coleman’s June official visit will mark his first trip to East Lansing. Michigan State will look to make up ground on his long-lasting relationship with Penn State’s staff. The Nittany Lions already have three running backs committed as part of their 2025 class.
Wallace-Coleman holds additional offers from Oregon, Texas A&M, Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi and Nebraska, among others. He is the No. 204 recruit in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. Wallace-Coleman is also the No. 13 running back and the No. 6 recruit from Pennsylvania in his class.
3. Four-star wide receiver Jeff Exinor, Baltimore (Md.) McDonogh School
Michigan State will welcome four-star wide receiver Jeff Exinor for his second visit to East Lansing. Exinor (6-1, 210) visited East Lansing in March for a spring practice. He has built a strong relationship with Spartan wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins since receiving his Spartan offer in February.
Exinor took an official visit to Virginia Tech in April. Sources told SpartanMag that the Hokies made a strong impression on Exinor during the visit. Exinor will also visit Penn State, Syracuse and Maryland in June. Despite Virginia Tech’s impressive push, SpartanMag projects Penn State as Michigan State’s biggest competition for Exinor at the moment.
Michigan State will look to build momentum during Exinor’s visit the weekend of May 31. Exinor holds additional offers from Michigan, Oregon, USC, Tennessee and Wisconsin, among others. He is the No. 275 recruit, the No. 38 wide receiver and the No. 6 recruit from Maryland in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
4. Four-star DL Bobby Kanka, Howell (Mich.) High School
One of the more intriguing visits on the docket for Michigan State comes by way of in-state defensive tackle Bobby Kanka. Kanka has been committed to in-state rival Michigan since August 2023.
Kanka (6-4, 263) came off the board early, committing to Michigan’s previous coaching staff, which included former head coach Jim Harbaugh and former defensive line coach Mike Elston. With neither of the aforementioned coaches in Ann Arbor any longer, Kanka has left the door slightly open in his recruitment.
Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith and defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa made separate trips to Howell High School to meet with Kanka upon their arrival in East Lansing in January. The Spartans remained persistent in their pursuit of Kanka, resulting in a spring practice visit to East Lansing in April.
Kanka will return to East Lansing for an official visit the weekend of June 14. He will also take an official visit to Tennessee on June 21. Wisconsin is also pushing for a visit.
Kanka is the No. 312 recruit in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 27 defensive lineman and the No. 3 recruit from Michigan in his class.
5. Four-star CB Chris McCorkle, Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney
Michigan State will also host four-star cornerback Chris McCorkle for an official visit on June 14. McCorkle (6-1, 173) committed to Indiana in late April, but he kept his Michigan State official visit on the schedule after building a relationship with Spartan secondary coach Blue Adams.
McCorkle holds additional offers from Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Mississippi State and Purdue, among others. He will take an official visit to Indiana on May 31. Michigan State is the only other official visit that McCorkle has planned.
McCorkle is the No. 378 recruit in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 33 cornerback and the No. 54 recruit from Florida in his class.
Honorable mentions
Michigan State will also host a pair of offensive linemen whom On3 considers four-star prospects, which is higher than the industry average for these prospects. Spartan offensive line coach Jim Michalczik has Michigan State in the thick of both of their recruitments:
Massillon (Ohio) Washington High School offensive lineman Nolan Davenport will make his way to East Lansing for an official visit on June 14. Davenport (6-6, 280) is the No. 271 recruit, the No. 22 offensive tackle and the No. 10 recruit from Ohio in the 2025 class, per On3.
Michigan State welcomed Davenport to campus for a spring practice back in March. He holds additional offers from Penn State, Kentucky, Mississippi, Wisconsin and Arkansas, among others. Davenport will also take an official visit to Missouri on June 21.
In-state offensive lineman N-Kye Wynn, of Muskegon High School, will also make his way to East Lansing the weekend of June 14. Michigan State offered Wynn (6-5, 265) during an unofficial visit in late March. Wynn has also picked up offers from Wisconsin, Mississippi, Nebraska, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, Rutgers and Vanderbilt, among others, this offseason.
Wynn is the No. 263 recruit, the No. 21 offensive tackle and the No. 2 recruit from Michigan in the 2025 class, per On3.
Michigan State will look to seal the deal with Wynn during his official visit. Wynn told SpartanMag that he currently has official visits planned to Rutgers (May 31), Wisconsin (June 7) and Pittsburgh (June 20).
