U.S. Army Recognizes Town Of Islip Veterans Advisory Board
ISLIP, NY — The Town of Islip has received a high honor from the United States Department of the Army.Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, joined by members of the Town of Islip’s Veterans Advisory Board, including Richard Lutz on behalf of Councilman John Lorenzo, accepted a certificate of recognition from the Army recognizing the town's dedicated efforts in support of local veterans and their families.According to a statement, the certificate was in response to the recent Town of Islip’s Veterans Salute to Service, commending the town’s commitment to connecting veterans with essential services, support networks and community resources.The service was held in May at Brookwood Hall in East Islip and welcomed veterans of all ages, active-duty service members and their families. The event featured organizations offering assistance in areas such as healthcare, housing, employment, mental health and other opportunities."We are deeply honored to receive this recognition," Carpenter said. "This event which would not have been possible without huge support from our Veterans Advisory Board, especially members Steve Castleton and Jessica Valdes was about giving back to those who have given so much. It was a true community effort, and we are proud to continue supporting our veterans not just during this event, but throughout the year."In the statement, officials said the recognition "reaffirms the Town’s ongoing dedication to honoring veterans and fostering a supportive, resource-rich environment for those who have served."
