Sirianni's Circus, Sixers' Knees: This Week In Philly Sports
PHILADELPHIA, PA —Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is in Meltdown Mode. The Phillies management is in Fantasyland. The Sixers are already suffering with injuries. And the Flyers were on the West Coast for four games to start the season. These are some of the sports stories making news this past week:What In World Is Up With Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni?NFL coaches usually stick to the sidelines. They're in charge of managing the game. But they usually don't grab the spotlight over their own team. But there was Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, Mr. Meltdown. Nick shaved his head, taunted Eagles fans, and then brought his kids to a press conference where he used them as shields to deflect questions about why his team could barely beat the Cleveland Browns. This team, which should be reaching for Super Bowl expectations, is dreadful. And if Sirianni can't be the New York Giants, his head —not his hair —will be on the chopping block.Phillies Bringing It Back Next Season After Playoff CrashAnother press conference that didn't seem to go so well was the one that Phillies President Dave Dombrowski held this week. The Phillies, who had World Series Championship expectations, couldn't beat the New York Mets. But Dombrowski said this is a championship team and everyone is coming back. No one's head is hitting the chopping block and it looks like the lineup will remain intact. Yes, this team had one of the best records in baseball for most of the year but as old Manager Phil Garner once said, "It's not how you start; it's how you finish."Sixers Suffering Injuries And Season Hasn't BegunWe suffer as Sixers fans. We suffered through another fast playoff exit last year. So it's a new season starting soon and we should be excited. The Sixers hooked the biggest free agent on the market in All-Star forward Paul George. But George suffered a hyper-extended knee injury in a pre-season game. And we all heard that Superstar Joel Embiid wasn't playing in the pre-season because his knee was being evaluated. That certainly doesn't sound good. Can't wait to begin another long year.Flyers Start Season And No One Even Knows About ItDid you know the Philadelphia Flyers started their season? Probably not. All the games were on the West Coast and the new Fly Guys and the team is 1-2-1. Maybe losing when games start at 10 p.m. keeps them under the radar. But the Flyers are now home and play their home opener on Saturday night. After how the other three teams are performing, a win would be wonderful. The article Sirianni's Circus, Sixers' Knees: This Week In Philly Sports appeared first on Warminster, PA Patch.
