The Drake Maye Experience Continues Abroad: Patch Pats Roundup
FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots will head to the old England for an early kickoff this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.Though the product on the field may not be all that interesting for most viewers, it does have potential impacts on this season's race to the bottom, something that could come into play as the season goes on and fans of struggling teams begin to scout college players and think about draft order. Both teams sit at 1-5, but the Jaguars appear to be in a much worse situation than the Patriots, with questions about their once generational number one pick at quarterback and rumors beginning to swirl about whether its head coach will make the long flight home with the team.Still, there are things to watch for on New England's side, as Drake Maye will be under center for his second career start. He'll do so again with a makeshift offensive line and potentially without running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who flashed in his last appearance despite a fumble-laden start to the year.Stevenson, who's dealing with a foot injury, was at practice on Friday but is likely to be a game-time decision on Sunday.Maye himself may actually be dealing with a knee issue. He told media this week, however, that he's "feeling good" and "ready to go for Sunday." Christian Barmore Providence Police StopNew England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore was pulled over by Providence police Wednesday morning and took to social media to accuse the officers of racism during the stop.Providence police told Boston 25 News there were issues with Barmore's registration, and marijuana was found in his SUV. According to police, Barmore behaved aggressively during the traffic stop, which they said was initiated because of a plate cover over a temporary license plate they could not read.Barmore reportedly asked for a ticket when questioned, but officers said his SUV would need to be towed and searched. Fox 25 News reported an ash cup with a blunt from under Barmore’s driver-side seat and several tubes filled with marijuana were found by police.Barmore was not arrested. Following the stop, he took to social media and accused the officers of racist behavior."I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at its finest," Barmore said on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.Barmore has not played this season, as he has been out since early in training camp after developing blood clots. There is no timetable for his return, though Patriots Head Coach Jerod May has hinted in recent weeks that it is possible the star defender may return later this season.Kraft Speaks On Status Of Jabrill PeppersPatriots owner Robert Kraft made an appearance on The Breakfast Club last and discussed, among other topics, the status of Jabrill Peppers within the organization.Peppers, a team captain, currently faces charges related to a domestic violence incident in Braintree, and was placed on the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List."We're living in a world now with so much on social media and so much that's reported is unfair in these kind of situations," Kraft said."If the facts are what's been reported publicly, then he's not with us," Kraft later added. "I'm personally just going to wait, knowing that these things can be unfair."He added that both the league and the team are conducting investigations into the case to see if they can determine the accuracy of the allegations. How To Catch The GameKickoff: 9:30 a.m.Network: NFL Network and WCVBRadio: 98.5 The Sports HubThe article The Drake Maye Experience Continues Abroad: Patch Pats Roundup appeared first on Foxborough, MA Patch.
