57 Dogs From GA Compete In Iconic Westminster Show This Weekend

GEORGIA — Competing with more than 3,000 top-ranked dogs from across the country at the 148th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show that starts this weekend are 57 dogs from Georgia.The nation’s most prestigious dog show runs from Saturday to Tuesday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.Fox Sports will provide more than 16 hours of coverage of the iconic dog show through its TV and streaming platforms.The event kicks off with obedience and agility championships on Saturday, before the official competition kicks off on Monday. Breed judging (hound, toy, non-sporting and herding groups) and junior showmanship preliminaries will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. EDT, with hound, toy, non-sporting and herding group judging from 7:30-11 p.m.Tuesday’s events include:Breed judging (sporting, working, and terrier groups) and junior showmanship preliminaries from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.;Junior showmanship finals from 7-7:30 p.m.;Sporting, working and terrier group judging, followed by best of show from 7:30-11 p.m.More information is found on the full viewing schedule.Highlights for this year’s show include one newly American Kennel Club-recognized breed, the Lancashire Heeler, which will join 200 other sanctioned breeds represented at the show.The states with the most dogs are Florida (201), New York (190), California (183), Pennsylvania (160) and Texas (130).
