Man Killed In Alleyway Shooting, Suspect At Large In Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA — A suspect remained at large Thursday after a shooting in a Long Beach alleyway took the life of one man, police said.The Long Beach Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots heard in the 1800 block of Gardenia Avenue at about 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday. When police arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in his upper body. Officers attempted life-saving measures on the victim before Long Beach Fire Department Paramedics relieved them and took the man to a hospital. The victim was pronounced dead by hospital staff.Detectives investigating the incident determined that a man approached the victim while he was standing in a nearby alley. The suspect shot the victim and then fled on foot, police said.The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
