David M. Moore

David M. Moore, age 63, from Middleton, MA, suddenly passed away this week in Virginia. He is predeceased by his parents, Nancy Moore and Frederick Moore, and his older brother, John Moore. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Moore, and their two daughters – Sarah Gross of Greenville, SC, and Jen Moore of Mooresville, NC. He’s also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Moore, widow of John Moore, and their children, Bridget and John Moore, all of Maine. He also has multiple nieces and nephews that survive him.
David and Joan were married in June of 1987. After they were married, he promised Joan: “It’s going to be an adventure!” Life saw them as expats in Germany, drove through Europe to visit family in England, and moved back to Massachusetts. David graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with an MBA. Life took them south to Maryland where they lived for 14 years! The adventure continued to North Carolina where they lived near Lake Norman. Throughout the years, he worked in finance for many Fortune 500 companies in Massachusetts, Germany, Maryland, and North Carolina.
Upon semi-retirement, he moved closest to what he loves best – the ocean – and took Joan, Waylon (their dog), and Chirp (the cat) with him. He started a local electric bike shop with Joan near their retirement home on the Outer Banks called Carolina Shores Electric Bikes OBX. He made friends with people wherever he went. His favorite spot was on the ocean, behind the helm of a power boat, fishing, or walking on the beach with Joan and Waylon. There were many 4th of July celebrations with extended family and friends spent in Massachusetts or Thanksgiving in the Outer Banks.
He enjoyed good food, wine, and the company of family and friends. David had a generous spirit, a kind heart, and liked helping where and when he could. He was a board member of the United Way of Central Maryland and the Board Chair of the United Way of Carroll County, Maryland. He was a long-time Cadillac Allante Owners Group member and started the Baltimore branch in the 2010s. David enjoyed restoring Cadillac Allantes and taking his family to car shows.
Cooking was a source of joy for Dave. The family looked forward to his Sunday cinnamon raisin French toast, Christmas beef tenderloin with mushroom au jus gravy, and his creations as “the grill master”. Dave also loved carpentry and frequently fixed or built things around the house. He inherited his green thumb from his mother and enjoyed landscaping and being out in the garden.
The family has chosen the simplicity of a cremation and a celebration of David’s life will be held at a future date. Please share a story or a fond memory of David with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Amen, rest in peace, he will be missed. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
