Casino Crime Roundup: Ruggs Assigned to Nevada Governor’s Mansion

Former Las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs III reportedly has been working at the Nevada governor’s residence while serving his prison sentence.

Ruggs is one of only a few prisoners who get to work daytime hours at the mansion where Gov. Joe Lombardo (R), a former Clark County sheriff, resides.
Ruggs was assigned to minimum custody, a corrections spokesperson told Las Vegas TV station KLAS. That allows him to work in the community outside of a correctional camp.
Ruggs was ordered to be incarcerated for at least three years. He was convicted of DUI resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter following a deadly 2021 Las Vegas accident in which Tina Tintor and her dog perished.
Prosecutors said the former wide receiver was driving as fast as 156 mph moments before the collision. Ruggs’ blood alcohol level was 0.16% after the collision, which is twice the legal limit in Nevada.
Deputies Destroy Gambling Machines in Mississippi
Ten gambling machines were discovered this week at an illegal gaming operation in Mississippi’s Grenada County.
The machines were demolished at the gambling den, according to Mississippi TV station WTVA. Deputies also seized an unspecified amount of cash.
The location was raided on Wednesday by deputies from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the court-ordered search, Mohamed Lemin was charged with operating gambling and lotteries.
Police Investigate After Body Found Near Casino
Las Vegas police are revealing more details after a body was found in April near Eureka Casino.
Robert Rodriguez was identified as the man found on April 28. His body was wrapped in a tarp and was decomposing, police said. Rodriguez died from a gunshot wound to his head, according to Las Vegas TV station KTNV.
He and his girlfriend had lived in a tent near the gaming property. They were homeless.
Loth Rodriguez, 67, was arrested in connection with the shooting, police said. Loth claimed the shooting was an accident and that he only wanted to frighten Robert while the two were at Loth Rodriquez’s residence. The two men had been arguing.
Loth Rodriguez was charged with open murder with a deadly weapon. He’s to appear in court on July 11.
Gennady Zhuravlyon, 48, was charged with harboring/concealing/aiding a felony offender. He’s accused of moving the body from the crime scene and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Both defendants remain in the Clark County Detention Center.
