Sky trolls Fever fans after Angel Reese’s career game
The Chicago Sky came away with an 88-87 win over the Indiana Fever, coming back from a 12-point deficit in the second half on the back of an incredible effort by Angel Reese, and the Sky’s social media team was hyped up after the win, making light of some of the discourse surrounding the team’s prior matchups against the Fever and Caitlin Clark.
“bUt wHy dO ThE ChIcAgO SkY HaTe tHe fEvEr? ThEy pLaY ToO HaRd. tHeY TaLk tOo mUcH. ThEy sHoUlD'Ve lEt tHeM WiN fOr ThE sAkE oF—” *transmission ends*

As you can see, the Sky’s social media manager was hyped up after the win, and this post will undoubtedly get a lot of engagement from fans. There might not have been a controversial play that happened in this game, like in the prior matchups between the Sky and the Fever, but this game will rightfully get a lot of coverage.
Both Reese and Clark showcased their talents in the game as they seem to be getting more comfortable playing at the WNBA level. It was a big win for the Sky, as they move into a playoff spot and knock the Fever out of the top eight. These two teams might be competing for one of the last spots as the season progresses, so getting a win after dropping the first two matchups was vital for the Sky.
It looked like the Fever would come away with a third win in this new rivalry, but the Sky came storming back, and Reese had a big role in that. Clark and Aliyah Boston both had nice performances for the Fever, which is encouraging for the future, but it ultimately was not enough to get the win in the end.
Angel Reese’s best performance powers Sky to win
The Sky needed every point they could get, and the best player on the court for them on Sunday was rookie Angel Reese, who stood out with her eight double-double in a row. In 36 minutes, Reese had 25 points with a staggering 16 rebounds on 8-for-12 shooting.
Throughout Reese’s rookie season, her efficiency has been the area that could be improved most. This performance against the Fever will help in that regard. The rebounding has been something that has immediately translated to the WNBA from college.
Reese is averaging over 10 rebounds a game, which is impressive for a rookie. Up next will be a tough test for Reese on Thursday, as she will face the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and A’ja Wilson. If Reese is able to have a similar impact on the game, it would be a great sign for her future.
The Sky are on the playoff bubble, and as mentioned before, the win over the Fever, a team they are directly competing with for positioning, was a huge one in the early going. It will be interesting to see how the standings shake out.
The next and final regular season matchup between the Sky and Fever will take place on August 30 in Chicago.
