Expanded Early Voting Locations, Times Approved By PWC Supervisors
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Prince William County voters will have more places to vote early after approval by the Board of County Supervisors Tuesday. The board voted to use five voter satellite office locations for all countywide elections and make permanent voter satellite office locations for special elections. The action also sets start dates of voter satellite office openings for elections, expanding weekend voting opportunities. The county had set up limited early voting locations for certain elections in 2021, but location inconsistency caused confusion among voters. The county has five satellite sites, but not all are used at the same time. The county has used two sites during primary elections and four during general elections, but locations have varied by type of election. The Office of Elections sought changes to make five locations consistent for all elections and provide broader early voting access at popular voting times."The Office of Elections recommended these changes based on data and best practices in election management," said Eric Olsen, Prince William County's director of elections. "We appreciate the Board making these changes, as it will expand options for our voters here in Prince William County starting this November."Satellite offices are early voting locations offered in addition to the Prince William County Office of Elections, 9250 Lee Ave, Suite 1, Manassas, VA. The five voter satellite offices for countywide elections approved by the board include:Brentsville Courthouse Historic District, 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow, VADMV Woodbridge Customer Service Center, 2731 Caton Hill Road, Woodbridge, VADumfries Community Center, 17755 Main Street, Dumfries, VAA.J. Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis Dr, Woodbridge, VAHaymarket Gainesville Community Library, 14870 Lightner Road, Haymarket, VAThe expanded early voting locations will take effect for the November 2024 general election, pending approval by the Virginia attorney general. For the 2024 primary election, early voting location include the Office of Elections at 9250 Lee Ave, Suite 1, Manassas, VA; A.J. Ferlazzo Building at 15941 Donald Curtis Dr, Woodbridge, VA; and Haymarket Gainesville Library at 14870 Lightner Rd, Haymarket, VA. The board action also set satellite office openings at 10 days before primary and special elections to the Saturday before the election. For general elections in a non-presidential election year, satellite offices will open 16 days before the election through the Saturday before the election. For general elections with a presidential election will open 23 days before election day through the Saturday before the election. For special elections that aren't countywide elections, only voter satellite offices within the boundary of the election district will be open. In cases of elections without a satellite office location in the district, the DMV Woodbridge satellite location will serve the Neabsco, Woodbridge and 19th House of Delegates District, while the Brentsville Historic Courthouse will serve the Coles district.Voters may find information on how to vote in the upcoming election at www.pwcvotes.org.SEE ALSO: Congressional Primaries 2024: Early Voting To Begin In Prince William CountyThe article Expanded Early Voting Locations, Times Approved By PWC Supervisors appeared first on Woodbridge, VA Patch.
