Janet Jackson Reportedly Made This Major Business Move After Her Comments About Kamala Harris' Race

A few days ago, on Sept. 21, Janet Jackson made some alarming comments about Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In a sit-down interview with The Guardian, Jackson said that Harris’ father, Jamaican-American economist Donald Harris, was “white.”
“That’s what I heard,” Jackson told the outlet. “That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”
Following the article, and the backlash that ensued, Jackson’s presumed manager Mo Elmasri gave a statement to outlets to set the record straight.
“Janet Jackson would like to clarify her recent comments. She recognizes that her statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity were based on misinformation,” Elmasri’s statement read, per Variety. “Janet respects Harris’ dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused.”
“She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today’s society,” the statement continued. “Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding.”

Following the statement, however, Variety was told that Elmasri’s statement was “not authorized” by Jackson, and that he was fired instead.
“I no longer work for her,” her former manager told the outlet. “I was fired by Janet and Randy [Jackson], after attempts to improve her image in front of public opinion and her fans, and this is something I do not deserve.”
“Janet Jackson fired me due to disagreements between me, her, and Randy, after her meeting with The Guardian and her unbalanced statements,” Elmasri echoed to the Daily Beast.
“That’s all I can say,” the executive said, adding, “All support to Kamala Harris.”
Looks like Jackson has either no intention of apologizing for her remarks or wants to make the statement herself, not through Elmasri or anyone else. Knowing how damaging a comment like this may go, especially with the ripple effects of fake news, we hope Jackson sets the record straight soon.
