Summer Classes Announced By Bucks County Playhouse
NEW HOPE, PA —The Bucks County Playhouse has announced its lineup of education programs being offered this summer. In-person class. Ages 15 to adult. The class meets Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. June 12 to 26 and is taught by Jessica Bostock, an award-winning choreographer and director. Improv Back by popular demand, Improv offers two hours of collaborative acting games, improv techniques and opportunities to nurture creativity. No experience is necessary just a desire to laugh. The class is for ages 15 to adult. Improv meets Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. from July 11 to 25 and August 8 to 22. The class will be led by Will Dennis, a local professional actor, teacher and owner/operator of improv studio, UnScripted Productions in Newtown. As a member of Actors Equity Association, he’s been seen on many local stages.Making a MusicalJoin “ALiEN8” writers/composers Brennan and White for development on their latest musical, “Book of Wonder.” Become part of a "Making a Musical" workshop process and bring new scenes and songs to life as this new musical takes shape with these two artist-educators who were 2023 finalists for The Jonathan Larson Grant. The class is open to ages 13 to 18. The class meets Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8 to 12 and 15 to 19. The class is taught by David Lee White and Kate Brennan.Acting for the Camera Through assisted scene work from screenplays, "Acting for the Camera" teaches techniques for acting on camera for television and film. Using copy from television and film scenes, actors will learn the process from the audition in the TV casting director’s office, to script analysis, preparing self-tapes, lighting and technology, and tips on how to find an agent. This validating class gives students the tools to start their acting for the camera journey. Students of varying levels are encouraged to sign up. You can be a curious beginner or a more experienced performer. Ages 15 to adult. The class meets Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from July 9 to 30. The class is taught by Johanna Tolentino got her first big break at the age of 16 on the feature film, “Lean On Me,” with Morgan Freeman. Advanced Beginner Adult TapLed by professional dancer, Dani Tucci Juraga, this three-week Advanced Beginner Adult Tap class will build on tap skills and will teach fun combinations as participants tap in a great American dance tradition. The class is for ages 15 to adult and meets Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. from July 10 to 24.
