Everything You Need To Know About Eyelash Lifts And Tinting From Someone Who Got The Procedure Herself And Loved It
If you love mascara or false lashes, you’re probably used to dealing with the following issues: smudging, melting, getting things in your eye, having to reapply, forgetting to take it off, or waking up with raccoon eyes.
Wearing mascara and testing out all different kinds is great, but wouldn’t it be outstanding if you could just wake up every day with lashes that look like they had been recently curled and given a fresh coat of mascara?
That’s the effect a lash lift and tint, one of today’s latest beauty trends, has on people.
A lash lift and tint can provide volume and color for your lashes, making them seem perfectly mascara-ed every day for up to eight weeks.
As someone who doesn’t feel like her makeup look is complete without putting on several coats of mascara, I was instantly intrigued when I heard about the magic of lash lifts and went ahead and got myself one.
The service particularly interested me because I learned that a lash lift and tint is a bit less of a commitment and isn’t as harsh on your natural lashes as eyelash extensions.
I’ve heard and read many horror stories about people who decided to get eyelash extensions repeatedly and eventually regretted it, so the moment I discovered there was something a little less intense, I was game.
An eyelash lift and tint can cost anywhere between $60 to $175, usually depending on your location. The simple procedure takes around 45 minutes to an hour and is more relaxing than you may think.

When I walked into my local salon for my appointment, I was given a rundown of how the procedure worked and what I could do afterward to properly care for my lashes and ensure the lift lasted as long as possible.
Then, the stylist began a process that is essentially like a perm for your eyelashes. After having me wash my face, I had to lie back in a nice, comfortable chair that allowed me to rest my head back so she could get a proper look at my eyes.
Next, she applied nice cooling pads to my under eyes and eyelids, which, honestly, made me feel like I was in a spa. She adjusted the pads to apply the perming solution in an upward motion onto my eyelashes and let them curl up, resting on the pad.
You are required to keep your eyes closed during the entire process, and although it may feel strange to have your lashes poked and prodded for a moment, most people in charge do it with a gentle touch, so it’s not that bad.
Once the perming solution is on both sets of eyelashes, the stylist then uses a conditioning treatment and puts on the tint, which makes the color of your lashes darker, similar to hair dye.
When everything has been put on your lashes, your stylist will have you rest and chill out while your lashes set, which often takes 30 to 40 minutes.
You’re encouraged to take a little snooze or meditate, as your eyes will still be closed! I was definitely half asleep as I waited – it was a great excuse for a quick nap.
After you rest and your lashes are set, your stylist will remove the eye pads and any excess glue with a Q-tip or cotton ball. My stylist used a mini fan to dry off my eyes a little faster, and eventually, I opened my eyes to discover that my lashes were gorgeous!
After a lift and tint, you’re advised not to get them wet or soaked in water for at least 24 to 48 hours.
If you can, avoid washing your face and hair the day you get your lashes done.
If you have to shower, ensure you don’t make it too steamy, as too much moisture within the first two days can affect the quality and strength of the perming solution.
When all is said and done, and you’re 48 hours past your appointment, you won’t believe how great your lashes look 24/7. If you want some extra flare, you can wear one to two coats of basic mascara, but you may feel like you never need it while your lift and tint are intact.
Whenever removing mascara or additional face makeup after a lift and tint, use oil-free remover, as oil-based products can melt down the perming solution on your lashes.
Taking good care of your lashes can make your lift and tint last six to eight weeks, which is pretty cool. I love my lashes even more now and would highly recommend it to anyone who wouldn’t mind shortening their makeup routine.
