Tim Walz Attacked Over 2020 Video Of Police Throwing Paintballs At Minnesota Residents To Enforce COVID Curfew
A clip from May 2020 in Minnesota has gone viral amid Tim Walz being picked as the Vice Presidential candidate in the 2024 US election. In the clip, Minnesota police officers can be seen in a Minneapolis neighborhood firing paintballs at residents, trying to enforce Tim Walz's curfew order during the COVID-19-induced lockdowns.The New York Post reported that the clip was shot by Minneapolis resident Tanya Kersson outside her home. Described by many as 'absurd,' the clip shows a tank moving down the street, slowly, while officers fired paintballs at residents to enforce the curfew. A group of at least 25 officers can be seen in the video moving down the street. Get inside! Get in your house now, let’s go!" as they walked down the street. The woman continued filming, prompting an officer to say, "Light ’em up!" Governor Walz also signed Executive Order 20-81, mandating face coverings in specific settings to curb the virus's spread, and Executive Order 20-20, which enforced a stay-at-home order limiting movements to essential needs.Additionally, Executive Order 20-68 was also issued, extending a temporary nighttime curfew to safeguard residents during a period of unrest. Later, Governor Walz outlined a plan to lift nearly all state COVID-19 restrictions by May 28, 2021, with the mask mandate ending once 70% of Minnesotans aged 16 and older were vaccinated on or by July 1, 2021.
