Rich DiPietro of East Hartford, Connecticut, led his workplace’s lottery pool according to the state’s lottery.
After 22 years at a tech company in Wallingford, outside New Haven, he finally won big on a lotto pool.
He was charged with buying tickets for himself and twelve others.
On October 15, 2022, the lucky numbers came up.
The group matched four numbers with those drawn, making them the $50,000 prize.
Split 13 ways, that’s about $3,800 — before taxes.
Connecticut taxes lottery winnings like income, meaning each winner paid federal and state taxes on the prize.
The winners said the prize came at a good time, just before the Christmas holiday season.
