Some Nice Rockfish and Bluefish Around

A little breezy today, but nothing that would keep someone from hitting the water and doing some fishing. The waterways and fishing spots are still uncrowded during the week until kids get out of school so get out there and take advantage of it.
Rich Daiker fished the south jetty this afternoon and had a lot of fun with the rockfish. Rich had several throwback rockfish and this right at the edge of the slot keeper at 30 7.8" and 14 pounds. All of Rich's fish were caught on the Roy Rig.
Big Bird Cropper, inventor of the Roy Rig, used his World Famous jig to catch these big bluefish at the route 50 bridge. Biggest fish were over 30" and 8.5 pounds.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star is hoping that sea bass fishing picks up soon, but he was able to get plenty of keepers for his folks today.
Cleared the inlet with a typical post-holiday light rail; we found yesterday's seas diminishing in what would become calm water. Had 4 pyramids aboard in lieu of blocks; Big Jon sent them by the rail on Kathy's Reef.
Fishing today left much to be desired at first. A variety of depths and spots - what was to be a simple day with a few great clients was anything but. Finally in the vicinity of whales, the day came our favor; dern sure we sent em home with dinner. Had a good look at a pair of humpbacks too.
Big Jon used his reef builder's karma to pocket today's very small pool. A win is a win I suppose..
Hope the bite is better tomorrow.
