Knife-wielding man fatally shot in NYC after lunging at cops

A knife-wielding man was shot dead by police in Queens after he lunged at officers clutching a 14-inch blade, according to sources.
Cops were called to the address in Astoria just before 6:30 a.m. on Monday following reports of a man armed with a knife.

After officers unsuccessfully deployed a Taser, the suspect reportedly lunged at cops with the weapon, possibly a kitchen knife, according to law enforcement sources.

Several shots were fired at the man on the corner of 30th Avenue and 33rd Street, and the suspect was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he later died.
