Prepare to see iconic actress Anita Dobson like you’ve never seen her before – as she takes on a new role in a Channel 4 horror series.
The star, 75, is best known for being part of the original EastEnders cast – playing landlady Angie Watts for three years from 1985.
She also became a surprising chart-topper when she reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart with ‘Anyone Can Fall in Love’, a song set to the show’s theme tune.
A record-breaking 30.1 million viewers tuned in on Christmas Day 1986 to see Angie’s love-rat husband Den (Leslie Grantham) hand her their divorce papers.
Sadly, the character was killed off-screen from cirrhosis of the liver in 2002.

Since then she’s had a number of starring roles in TV and film, including the mysterious Mrs Flood in Doctor Who. The character, who on first appearance seemed to be a cosy, elderly neighbour of Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), has since revealed a more mysterious side – and she knows a lot about The Doctor.
Most recently, she’s taken on the role of Janine in new comedy horror television miniseries Generation Z.
The show follows an overturned army convoy outside of a care home, which subsequently starts a chemical leak that seems to turn the OAP residents into zombies.

Anita can be seen soaked in blood in pictures from the production, which is available to view now on Channel 4 streaming.
The six-part drama also stars Brookside and Coronation Street legend Sue Johnston and My Family’s Robert Lindsay.
Originally commissioned back in 2019, it did not go into production until the last quarter of 2023.

Rebecca Holdsworth, Commissioning Editor at Channel 4, said at the time: “We are so excited that [writer] Ben Wheatley has chosen C4 as the place to make his first original TV drama.
‘Generation Z promises to have all of the unique visual flair and mischievous spirit that characterises Ben’s film work; it is in turn wickedly funny, deftly political, and delivers on the kind of eye-popping shocks and thrills that mean this is shaping up to be a zombie drama like no other.’
