Reese Witherspoon Might Be Taking a Page From Kelly Clarkson's 'Fresh Start' Playbook After Divorce
Reese Witherspoon might be entering her Renaissance era! While her career is going great, her love life has taken a back seat while she navigated her first post-divorce year after splitting from Jim Toth after 12 years together. Now, it’s time to put herself first, and she’s possibly taking a page from Kelly Clarkson’s playbook.
After Clarkson settled her divorce from Brandon Blackcock, she realized that Los Angeles wasn’t the right city for her. So, she packed up and moved her entire life, and her daytime show, to New York City, where she and her two children, River, 9, and Remington, 8, are thriving. Witherspoon is also looking for her “fresh start,” according to an In Touch insider. She reportedly wants to “come up with this plan that involves moving the main operations [of her business] to NYC.”

The 48-year-old Oscar winner sold her Hello Sunshine company for $900 million in 2021, but “she’s still been grinding out these ridiculously long hours running the day-to-day operations and she’s now looking to change that.” Witherspoon is looking to “have a whole lot more fun in her life.” According to the unverified gossip site DeuxMoi, she’s been spotted in Manhattan enjoying the company of a man who is “tall and lean… brown hair starting to turn grey” and might be “a private equity guy at APAX.” While the relationship hasn’t been hard launched yet, perhaps this is the reason why New York City is looking so lovely these days.
“Reese doesn’t take dating lightly,” an insider told Life & Style. “After splitting from Jim, she was determined to take her time and not jump into another relationship unless she was absolutely sure. She listened to her heart, and apparently, she’s now dating this guy exclusively.” The In Touch source cautioned that Witherspoon’s move is only in “the consideration stage” right now, but she is making a “list of pros and cons” — and the pros are winning. They added, “She loves the idea of starting a totally new chapter, just talking about it lights her up and a lot of her friends are pushing her to go for it.”
Witherspoon might want to text Clarkson to get her insight on making the big move because the 42-year-old pop star can’t stop gushing about how relocating to NYC was the best thing she ever did for herself. “I feel like a weight has lifted. That move was very needed,” Clarkson told USA Today. “I think the thing I’m most excited about with Season 5, on a selfish level, is just showing up to work smiling and actually meaning it. That’s a beautiful gift that you don’t realize until you’re out of it.”
