And the TL;DR: is that the first 100 customers to bring a bottle in to that store will receive a free pair of Rothy’s. I’m not kidding! And even if you’re not one of the lucky 100, bring a plastic bottle in, and you’ll get 20% off the whole store today.
You’re probably thinking — what’s the catch? There is none. Rothy’s is doing this to help spread the word about the Break Free from Plastic Pollution Act. The bill was reintroduced this past October in Congress, and it aims to create a nationwide refund program for beverage containers, eliminate toxic substances in beverage containers and post-consumer recycled material, and more. It’s a small step in the direction that Rothy’s is working toward — to end single-use plastic from ever being made — but it’s a start. And so the brand is pushing to change the value of recycling old plastic by making it equal to that of a pair of shoes. (Hence the swap!)
Not in any of those cities? No sweat! You can also DM Rothy’s for a chance to get a pair. And even if you don’t do that, buying a pair of Rothy’s is always worth it.
