Rock Icon, 73, Showed Up for His Family in a Big Way Amid Heartbreaking News
Rock icon John Mellencamp has been extremely supportive of his daughter Teddi Mellencamp as she undergoes treatment for Stage 4 cancer."He has been beyond," Teddi, 44, said on the July 29 episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast. "The things that I wouldn’t be capable of doing without my dad — not only for financial reasons.""With all of these medical treatments and everything, he has stepped in. He’s helped me have a nurse," she continued, adding, "he calls me every single day. He makes sure that I’m OK. ... He’s giving me advice that, like, I need to hear sometimes. Even the fact that he calls me every single night and it’s not relenting. I may not call him back a couple nights, but he’ll still call every night at the same time."Teddi said that one of the things her dad arranged for her was an at-home nurse, which helped her immensely. Finally, I answer, I'm like, 'I'm in the bath. Let me live a little. Like let me enjoy,'" she told her co-host, Tamra Judge on Two Ts in a Pod. "He goes, 'I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.'""He’s like, 'Well there’s gonna be the top five, and then we’re gonna have little areas around it and then that’s where everyone’s gonna get buried.' He goes, 'Well you’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there,'" she continued. Teddi was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. After a number of surgeries on her back, she continued going in for additional skin checks. However, it wasn't until she started experiencing debilitating headaches that doctors sent her for a brain scan, finding several tumors. She underwent brain surgery to remove some of the tumors and has been doing immunotherapy as part of her treatment.
