4-star OL Juan Gaston gets a deep look at Georgia
For Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake four-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston, Georgia’s honesty stood out the most during his official visit over the weekend.
The No. 184 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings has been to Georgia a handful of times in his recruitment.
This weekend provided another chapter in the Bulldogs’ pursuit of 6-foot-7, 345-pound offensive lineman.
Transparency was the key.
“The transparency on all aspects of the football program from the competitiveness to all of the support not only from the coaches and staff but from the players,” Gaston told DawgsHQ.
Gaston also got the opportunity to look into the academics of Georgia as well as get a look at the entire campus.
“Being able to actually see the campus and talk with academics in depth about daily routines and support was different than other visits,” Gaston said. “I’ve been there a bunch of times but only to either the indoor facility or Sanford Stadium.”
What was the message to Juan Gaston?
Georgia made it clear the Gaston is a priority in Athens. The Bulldogs’ staff preached development with Gaston and his family throughout the weekend.
“Coming in as an elite player but also knowing they are going to be tough to make sure that I am performing at my highest potential,” Gaston said.
There was a lot of facetime in front of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and offensive line coach Stacy Searels for Gaston and his family.
That was a major opportunity for the four-star offensive lineman.
“It was awesome being able to get so much face time with both Coach Searles and Coach Smart,” Gaston said. “It was definitely noted the efforts put fourth this weekend hanging with them. Also, my parents were able to engage with them all weekend asking the tough questions about my future at Georgia.”
Georgia has an ace recruiter in place for Gaston. Four-star running back commit Bo Walker has been working to get Gaston to commit.
Walker and Gaston have known each other for years. They’ve already been teammates once before.
Bo and I played 13U together with Rarebreeds, so we have a great connection,” Gaston said.
Walker isn’t the only recruit that Gaston has connected with over the years.
“Of course Travis Smith, my current teammate, Big Nick (Nick Brooks) and Mason Short who has already committed (are prospects I know),” Gaston said.
Where is Georgia in the running now?
On3’s Recruiting Prediction has Georgia way out front for Gaston. The Bulldogs have a 91.8 percent chance of landing Gaston according to RPM.
Georgia set the bar high in Gaston’s official visit tour. He’s already taken one other official visit, that was to Oregon in mid-May.
“The Georgia staff really showed out for my official visit, the bar was set high coming out the gate for my first official visit,” Gaston said. “The staff really provided exceptional service for the entire weekend…There was a lot of information to soak in during the visit and I will have to weigh this last weekend into my decision from all angles.”
