Mark Wright revealed he lied to his now-wife Michelle Keegan on their second Valentine’s Day together.

The former TOWIE star, 37, admitted he fibbed to the actress, 36, about cooking a delicious seafood meal from scratch – when really he ‘went to a restaurant and asked them to prepare a lobster’.

The radio presenter revealed the Fool Me Once star rumbled his porky pies the next day and fumed: ‘Mark, you’re a liar!’

But Michelle evidently didn’t hold the blunder against him; the couple have been married since 2015 after meeting in late 2012.

Mark made the cheeky confession on-air while hosting his Heart FM radio programme on Monday, admitting he got ‘clocked’ by Michelle when she found the restaurant takeaway bag in the bin.

He said: ‘We like to stay in on Valentine’s Day. I don’t know what it is, but you go out Valentine’s night. It’s so crowded. It’s all a little bit gushy and I’m a bit of a romantic I have to admit, but we just like to stay and keep it low-key.

On their first Valentine’s Day, Mark said Michelle cooked for him and he branded her ‘an amazing cook’.

‘By the way, [she is] honestly the best cook. I sometimes don’t even go out for dinner because the restaurant can’t compare,’ he added, gushing over Michelle’s culinary skills.

‘She cooked me a rack of lamb. It was the best rack of lamb I’ve ever had. So I was like: “Right next Valentine’s Day I’ve got to do it for her like it should be me”.

‘The man should be treating the woman, I believe in my in my old fashioned ways that it should be that way. But okay, it can happen the other way… Michelle did it for me.

So the year after I thought, “Right she’s working late. This is a great chance for me to cook something special but how do I beat a rack of lamb? Lobster!”

‘Googled how to cook a good lobster and I read how hard it is to get it good because it can turn very tough, rubbery. So what I did now, I would say this isn’t a bad thing. God loves a tryer.

‘I went to a restaurant that I knew and I asked them to prepare me a lobster that I just literally need to put in the oven for a certain amount of minutes. Bring it out done.’

The TV and radio star described an immaculate atmosphere as Michelle found the mouth-watering lobster on a plate next to a glass of red wine.

Mark said: ‘She was gobsmacked, but it was that good she was like “There’s no way you cook this” and was like “I did”.’

But Mark was soon caught, as he explained: ‘The next morning she woke up came into the room and she said “Mark you’re a liar!”

‘She pulled the bag from the restaurant that I stupidly put in the bin. So basically, I got clocked!

‘I don’t think that’s a bad thing, at least I tried and she still loved the meal but maybe I shouldn’t have lied and said that I cooked it.’

Michelle and Mark have been together for 11 years and tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Hengrave Hall in May 2015.

The actress is now said to have caught the eye of Hollywood bosses after starring as Maya Stern alongside Joanna Lumley in the series adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel Fool Me Once, which quickly shot to the top of Netflix charts worldwide.

The former Corrie favourite, who has also starred in BBC TV dramas Our Girl and Ten Pound Poms, plus Sky comedy Brassic, has been inundated with movie scripts and proposals for potential new roles.

A source told MailOnline last month: ‘The response to Fool Me Once has been overwhelming.

‘The phone calls and offers have been coming in from Hollywood film executives, it’s different to anything Michelle has experienced before.

‘Netflix is a global platform and the show has given her the opportunity to shine.

‘Her career has already been a success but now her star is rising, everyone can feel that this is the beginning of something special.

‘Michelle feels lucky that she’s always played likeable characters but now she’s hoping to take it up a notch by landing a film role.

‘She aspires to play a dark character in a hard-hitting thriller, which will be a challenge that she’s completely ready for.’
