Man killed as Audi slams into tree in northern NSW

A man has died when his car crashed into a tree in northern NSW.

The 48-year-old man was already dead when emergency personnel arrived about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

The Audi had come off the road and slammed into the tree on Rous Rd at Tregeagle, near Lismore.

No one else was injured.

Police are investigating what caused the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
