General Hospital’s Kin Shriner Buys Macdonald Carey’s Chair

Soap operas have been around for a very long time and anytime someone can purchase a piece of their history, it’s a win for fans — and daytime stars alike! In the case of General Hospital’s Kin Shriner (Scott), the actor shared a neat purchase he recently made, a chair that belonged to the late, great Macdonald Carey.
“Just bought the Great Macdonald Carey from Days of Our Lives chair from my niece his granddaughter Megan Carey, the chair he learned all his soap lines,” Shriner shared. “Maybe I can learn General Hospital lines!”

Along with the chair, Shriner showcased a framed photo of Carey, who played the iconic role of Salem’s patriarch Dr. Tom Horton from November 1965 to February 1994 with a voice most recognized for reciting the phrase, “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Live” before each episode.

Fans jumped into the comments to express how “cool” it was for him to own such a piece of soap history. And one fan, KJ, made a fun suggestion, “If you randomly start saying, ‘Like sands through the hour glass so is the Days of our lives’ while practicing your lines for GH, you may have to go on over to Days.”
Shriner also posted a pic on Instagram, enjoying a nightcap by the fireplace while sitting in the chair, and stated, “Big night on Turner Classic Movies.”
Over the weekend, the actor also took some time to remember another soap alum, fellow castmate Billy Miller (ex-Drew; The Young and the Restless, Billy), who passed away at just 43 years old.
“Very sad to hear about Billy Miller,” he stated. “I so enjoyed his time on General Hospital. He was a really good guy and funny and kind to all!”
