Don’t Make MLB Bets Today on These Slumping Pitchers

The Phillies may not have the overall record or favorable World Series odds that Atltanta does, but the Phils sure know how to hit. With the sixth-best batting average in the league, they rank ninth in runs and 10th in home runs. In his most recent start, Wright was punished by the Phillies with six earned runs over three innings.

The Braves are +100 moneyline underdogs on our MLB odds board but don’t get too excited about that price. The Braves are 1-3 against the MLB spread in Wright’s previous four starts, and their win can be chalked up to the offense scoring 14 runs, not Wright, who allowed six hits and four runs in two innings.

Adam Wainwright – STL: (4-11, 7.95)

More guys with Wright in their name who are the completely wrong MLB pick for Monday. Cardinals veteran Adam Wainwright has been a disaster for the franchise this season with an abysmal 4-11 record, 7.95 ERA and 1.98 WHIP. Despite facing the weak-hitting Brewers on Monday, the Cardinals are a lousy bet online in this game.

The Cardinals are 1-7 outright and against the spread in Wainwright’s last eight games, and it’s absurd that he’s still making starts in the MLB. You could say he’s improved over the previous month, but a 10.89 ERA in five starts is not difficult to beat.

Wainwright hasn’t pitched against the Brewers this season but posted a 4.18 ERA and a 1-2 record in five starts against them in 2022. The Cardinals went 2-3 in those games but were a much better team last season.

With three straight losses when Wainwright pitches, I don’t like the Cards’ chances of winning this game or covering the MLB betting lines as underdogs.

Remember that because today is Monday, Wainwright and Wright may have two starts this week. Lord knows why, but the Braves and Cardinals appear committed to these guys. Therefore, we get another shot later in the week to fade them with our best bets on MLB.
