Brooke Vincent on caution about dating famous footballer fiancé | Soaps
Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has been reflecting on her seven year relationship with fiancé Kean Bryan, admitting she was initially cautious over pursuing a romance.
The actress, known for her role as Sophie Webster in the ITV soap, explained that she regularly told herself she wasn’t going to go out with him, despite being attracted to him.
Brooke met Kean at the age of 23 in 2016, when Kean was 19. She has addressed her initial worry about the four age age gap, but added that she would ‘never have known’ as he is ‘more mature’ than her.
‘I got to the point where I was stopping myself being happy because of what other people might have thought,’ she shared.
‘It was just the thing that he was younger than me. I was like, “Oh my God, what are the girls going to think? He’s four years younger than me. I’m done being 19.”‘
Another aspect was that Brooke had endured heartbreak from previous partners, which made her think twice about becoming involved.
‘I think because I’d been hurt, like most young girls, you’re a bit more cautious,’ she mused on Learning As I Go podcast.
‘We used to meet at Asda car park so that no one could see us.
‘I used to have Maccies and he’d get a fruit bag, because he was training. He didn’t want to eat rubbish. We just used to sit and talk.’
Despite these doubts, the relationship went on to flourish, and the couple have two children, Mexx and Monroe, together.
Brooke gushed: ‘I absolutely adore him and I could go as far as to say that I love him unconditionally. The dad that he is with my children – that’s a huge thing for me.’
‘I always say Kean was the best thing that ever happened to me. It sounds ridiculous, because there’s so much more that’s been the best thing that ever happened to me, but what I mean by that is when I met Kean my life changed and it was happy.
‘Not that it wasn’t before, but I just remember there being a huge shift.’
In April, they announced their engagement in an Instagram video, which showed drawings of her family’s hands, with the image of her hand labelled as ‘Mrs Bryan to-be.’
It was captioned: ‘Coming Soon… The Bryans’, awith a diamond ring and church emoji.
Brooke recently ruled out a return to the role of Sophie Webster, citing the hours and not wanting to impact her time with her kids.
