It’s AEW Grand Slam week at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY. This week’s Dynamite will feature four title matches, including a title vs. title match between Claudio Castagnoli and the hometown favorite, Eddie Kingston.
The full Dynamite Grand Slam card is as follows:
- AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe
- AEW International Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Rey Fenix
- Chris Jericho vs. Sammy Guevara
- AEW Women’s World Championship: Saraya (c) vs. Toni Storm
- Title vs. Title Claudio Castagnoli (ROH World Champion) vs. Eddie Kingston (NJPW Strong Openweight Champion)
AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya is set to defend her title for the first time since winning at AEW All In in August. A member of The Outcasts with Saraya, in recent weeks Storm has begun spiraling after losing the championship. It’s put a rift between the two best friends as Storm hopes to get back what she lost to Hikaru Shida. Storm defeated 3 other former AEW Women’s champions in Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Nyla Rose, and Shida on last week’s episode of Dynamite to challenge for the title.
Meanwhile, Eddie Kingston heads into Dynamite Grand Slam as the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion but could he walk out Eddie two belts? Or will Castagnoli retain and then some after losing the ROH World Championship at Grand Slam to Chris Jericho exactly one year ago? The marquee match will see longstanding rivals Kingston and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli face off once again for something that is about more than just a title to Kingston.
Since Sammy Guevara’s arrival in AEW he’s been tethered to Chris Jericho. Whether in The Jericho Appreciation Society, the Inner Circle, or Le Sex Gods, there’s something holding him back from going to the next level, a level that the “AEW Pillars” have been on for quite some time. Both men know this to be true, but Jericho isn’t so sure that Guevara is ready for it yet.
AEW Dynamite Grand Slam airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TBS.
