100 Thieves cuts ties with general manager ddk

Former esports caster turned VALORANT general manager, Daniel “ddk” Kapadia, has officially parted ways with 100 Thieves on July 31st. This move has immediately started rumors of a massive roster rebuild to take place before VCT 2024.
The announcement came 2 weeks after 100 Thieves lost their series against Sentinels in the VCT Americas Last Chance Qualifier back on July 16th. Sadly for 100 Thieves, losing this series meant the end of their 2023 VCT campaign as they were no longer able to qualify for VCT Champions.
Ddk was officially signed by 100 Thieves back in March of 2022 and made important changes to their structure in the VALORANT scene. Ddk pushed an overhaul of the active roster with the help of former head coach Sean Gares and assistant coach Michael “Mikes” Hockom, the latter became the head coach for the squad after Sean’s departure. Ddk did not bring many accolades to 100 Thieves, most notably the squad had a decent playoffs run at VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo back in February and the Red Bull Home Ground 3 title in December of 2022.
Ddk in personal statement via social media:
It’s been a crazy ride! Lots of ups, downs and fun challenges & experiences.
Whilst I’m sad I won’t have the opportunity to carry forward all the valuable lessons of this year to continue to build the program, I’m extremely grateful for all of the people I’ve connected with and… https://t.co/oWi8gU2TGL

100 Thieves was in dire need of a rebuild, and they started right at the head of the structure, on paper it makes sense the first one to go was the general manager of the VALORANT division. During his ruling time, ddk signed 5 out of the 6 current players including: Sean “bang” Bezerra, Brenden “stellar” McGrath, Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban, Zander “thwifo” Kim, and Derrek Ha.
Now that he is gone, all players might be on the chopping block in the near future. Some of them have actually played well even during tough series which can hopefully prompt a contract renewal ahead of 2024. Nevertheless, it seems extremely likely some if not the entire roster will be rebuilt with a new general manager at the helm.
Now that the Tier 2 scene is currently in their offseason period, most players are available for purchase or even as free agents. Even though it is merely speculation at the moment of writing, most of the community believes 100 Thieves will try to rebuild from the ground up and even replace coach Mikes before VCT 2024.
Once VCT Champions conclude on August 26th, we should see some moves for 100 Thieves.
